84 people became victims of floods in Sudan


At least 84 people died as a result of natural disasters caused by rains in the Sudan, the press service of the Sudanese National Civil Defense Council reports. Thousands of houses were destroyed, 84 people died and 29 were injured in a number of regions of the country since the beginning of the rainy season, the statement said. Also, as a result of floods, 5,329 head of cattle were killed. Another 26,739 animals were injured. The ministry also called on residents of areas located on the banks of the Nile to comply with all necessary precautions. According to the news agency, the season of heavy rains caused by long rains in the Sudan usually falls on the season from June to October. In 2020, already on August 6, water almost reached a critical level in the country. Then, due to precipitation, the spill of the Blue Nile led to the rise of water to the level of 16.5 meters.
