The Minister of Economy of Ukraine Igor Petrashko considers the situation with low inflation in the country catastrophic. He stated this at a briefing today, June 16, the correspondent of the news agency reports. Petrashko recalled that, according to the latest official data, inflation in Ukraine slowed down to 1.6%, while, according to macro forecasts laid down in the state budget, it should be at the level of 11%. All EU and US countries are struggling with this fact (low inflation), because this means a drop in competitiveness, a depression in wages for Ukraine is also a depression relative to trade balances. We are now thinking about ways to stimulate the economy, the minister said. the news agency recalls that just the day before the topic with low inflation was first raised by one of the leaders of the Servant of the People faction, the head of the committee on finance, tax and customs policy Daniil Getmantsev, and in connection with the IMF. In particular, Getmantsev said that the IMF targets inflation in a memorandum with Ukraine at the level of 5% plus or minus 1%, and at the same time very strictly prescribes its authority to control this indicator. An associate of Zelensky said that low inflation is good for creditors of Ukraine, but absolutely does not contribute to the growth of the economy.
