Abe hopes Suga will conclude a peace treaty with Russia
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expects that Yoshihide Suga, who replaced him in this post, will be able to intensify negotiations with Russia on the territorial issue and conclude a peace treaty. This is stated in an interview published on September 23 by the ex-prime minister of the newspaper Yomiuru. According to him, negotiations where national interests face cannot be simple. However, we must not ignore the territorial issue. I hope that under Prime Minister Suga, negotiations will intensify and a peace treaty between Japan and Russia will be concluded, said Abe, confident that Russia also wants to solve the problem of a peace treaty in the medium and long term and strengthen relations with Japan. Recall that on September 19, Japan celebrates the fifth anniversary of the adoption of a law allowing the country's self-defense forces to conduct military operations abroad. The new Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga, is going to continue Shinzo Abe's policy of developing cooperation with the United States in the military sphere.
