120 thousand people are evacuated in California due to natural fires
In California, authorities have begun evacuating more than 119 thousand residents whose homes are threatened by natural fires. This was announced by Governor Gavin Newsom at a press conference on August 21, broadcast on his page on the social network Twitter. Evacuation notices must be taken seriously. We sent out such notifications to 119 thousand people, Newsom said. According to the governor, to date, the number of natural fires in northern California has increased from 367 to 560, and as a result of the fire, 312 thousand hectares of the state were burned out. A number of media outlets note that the number of California residents who are recommended to leave their homes due to fires already exceeds 140 thousand people. According to the news agency, the death toll from natural fires raging in the US state of California is up to five people. It is also reported that currently in the region another 30 people were injured by a natural disaster and two are listed as missing.
