Sweden recorded a record GDP drop since 1980
According to preliminary data from Statistics Sweden, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of this year decreased by 8.6% compared to the previous reporting period. This was announced on August 5 by the Sveriges Radio news service. Journalists note that compared to the II quarter of last year, Sweden's GDP fell by 8.2%. This decline in GDP for one quarter is the largest since 1980, according to a report by the department. According to economists, the decline in GDP is mainly due to a decrease in exports and a decrease in household consumption. The next report of the department on the state of the economic situation will be published on August 28.
