Iran and Iraq discuss defense cooperation
On July 3, Iranian military attaché in Baghdad Mostafa Moradyan and Chairman of the Security and Defense Committee of the Iraqi Parliament Mohammed Redha Al-Haidar at a meeting considered ways to expand cooperation in the field of security and defense. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. During the meeting, the parties stressed the need to implement the military-defense agreements signed earlier, noting the need for further development of cooperation in these areas. The Iraqi side praised Iraq's support from the Islamic Republic during the country's struggle with the ISIS terrorist group (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), saying that these efforts are an example of brotherhood between Iran and Iraq. Earlier, the Iranian diplomat also held a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Juma Anad Saadun, during which the parties discussed ways to expand military and defense cooperation.
